Mexico City's SOBSE Repairs 42,000 Potholes Through Bachetón
Mexico City’s Ministry of Works and Services (SOBSE) works alongside the 16 local boroughs to carry out daily maintenance and repair of the city's roadways under the Bachetón program. This initiative, part of the ongoing strategy to improve urban mobility, has already led to the repair of over 42,670 potholes on primary and secondary roads.
SOBSE reported it has repaired more than 30,290 potholes across the city, focusing on key routes like Eje 6 Sur, Copilco Avenue, Presidente Manuel Avila Camacho Boulevard, and the Picacho-Ajusco Highway. In addition, boroughs have addressed another 12,380 potholes in secondary roadways.
SOBSE has also been actively addressing potholes reported on social media and through the #CasaXcasa program, which involves visiting neighborhoods to engage with residents directly. As part of this initiative, SOBSE’s officials have visited Obrera, Agricola Pantitlan, Pedregal de Santo Domingo, and Tacuba neighborhoods, where residents frequently request attention due to local road conditions. SOBSE said it will strengthen the program through 2025, with more personnel and machinery.
