Segezha Group Signs First Plywood Supply Deal in Mexico
Russian forest industry holding Segezha Group has announced its entry into the Mexican market, marking a new milestone in the company’s global expansion strategy. According to Interfax, the group signed its first plywood supply contract during Expo CIHAC, Mexico’s leading construction and furniture industry exhibition.
“Mexico represents one of the key countries in Latin America, a dynamically developing region with growing construction and furniture markets. We saw great interest in our birch plywood from local specialists,” says Dmitry Beresnev, Vice President of Commercial Activities, Segezha Group.
According to Interfax, the company did not disclose the value of the agreement, but it confirmed that the initial shipment includes a diverse range of plywood grades and formats, tailored to meet the needs of various industrial sectors. “Interest in the holding’s products was shown by several companies from different sectors of the Mexican economy straight away,” says Interfax.
Segezha says that this trial shipment is the first step toward establishing a long-term presence in Latin America. The company expects that future exports of forest industry products to the region will benefit from Russian state subsidies designed to offset part of the logistics costs for carriers such as FESCO and TransContainer.
By entering Mexico, Segezha aims to leverage the region’s expanding construction sector and rising demand for sustainable, high-quality materials, reinforcing its commitment to international market diversification.
