The National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM) conducted a thorough inspection at the Manzanillo Integral Port Facility from July 25 to 31, 2025, reviewing operational, legal, technological, and infrastructural processes. The action comes in direct response to recent media reports alleging a supposed operational collapse at the port, claims the agency firmly denies.

“The Port of Manzanillo is not experiencing a collapse,” reports ANAM. The agency adds that contrary to media narratives, there has been a marked improvement in customs yard operations and logistics flow, pointing to photographic evidence as proof.

ANAM’s central office personnel carried out on-site supervision, including inspections of customs recognition procedures, the Risk Analysis Group (GAR), legal matters, and control platforms. The team also held meetings with logistics and administrative actors at the port.

As a result of the intervention, 470 customs entries out of 538 were successfully processed and released, representing an 87.4% resolution of pending shipments. All actions were validated and documented by the responsible institutional authorities.

Some space within the facility remains occupied, largely due to delays in cargo collection by certain importers, customs brokers, and transport companies. These parties have been formally urged, via the Manzanillo Port Community (COPUMA), to retrieve their goods without further delay.

Additionally, ANAM has seen an uptick in cargo abandonment cases, which it attributes to stricter enforcement and verification procedures. The agency reiterated its commitment to legality, stating: “Respect for the law is non-negotiable.”
