The National Port System Administration (ASIPONA) Guaymas awarded the concession for the operation of the Multipurpose Terminal (TUM) within the Port of Guaymas, Sonora, to SSA Mexico. The ward marks a major milestone in the modernization of Mexico’s Pacific port infrastructure.

The contract, formalized through a partial assignment of rights, grants SSA Mexico the responsibility for the development, equipment, and operation of the terminal in line with the Port Development Master Plan (PMDP) 2022–2027, which seeks to attract private investment to expand the port’s handling capacity and global competitiveness.

The signing ceremony took place at the port’s facilities, where Manuel Fernández, CEO, SSA Mexico, confirmed that preparations are underway for the start of operations and the installation of two state-of-the-art ship-to-shore cranes, which will significantly enhance Guaymas’ cargo efficiency and connectivity.

According to the PMDP 2022–2027, the concession covers a total surface area of 106,434m², designated for the handling of general cargo, containers, and vehicles. In its first phase, SSA Mexico will operate 24,250m² at Berth T1, featuring 329m in length, 40m in width, and a depth of 16m, enabling the port to receive large-draft vessels.

The project also includes a 44,236m² container yard, equipped with a refrigerated warehouse and a goods consolidation platform, supporting the diversification of port operations and the integration of Guaymas into key industrial and export corridors.

The partial assignment of rights was granted for 18 years with the possibility of extension, establishing commitments for investment, maintenance, and operation under international standards of efficiency, sustainability, and transparency.
