Canada-based precious metals company Orla Mining reported the fall of part of its Camino Rojo mine pit wall in Zacatecas. The company reported no injuries; however, it will temporarily suspend mining activities to assess the event’s consequences and remediation plans.

Orla Mining reported that the uncontrolled material movement event on the pit wall occurred on July 24, 2025. The event occurred along the temporary north wall of the open-pit and was caused by significant rainfall. No injuries or equipment damage were reported, as the movement was detected early by pit monitoring systems.

While mining in the open pit was suspended and access was restricted, Orla Mining stated that the main access ramp was not affected. Crushing and stacking of stockpiled material onto the heap leach will continue. The company noted that while there was no environmental damage, rainwater diversion channels will need to be re-established.

Relevant authorities are being notified of the incident. Orla Mining is conducting geotechnical assessments to ensure the area is safe for the resumption of mining activities and is evaluating the potential impact of the event on its full-year production guidance for the Camino Rojo mine.
