Capitan Silver reported new assay results from six drill holes at its Cruz de Plata silver-gold project in Durango. The company says these results confirm the emergence of a new, large, high-grade silver zone at the Jesus Maria trend. Key intercepts from the announcement include drill hole 25-ERRC-26, which intersected a lower zone of 1,767.4g/t AgEq over 1.5m, within a broader interval of 234.2g/t AgEq over 25.9m, and an upper zone of 612.9g/t AgEq over 1.5m. Nearby hole 25-ERRC-21 intersected 710.5g/t AgEq over 1.5m.
These results follow up on a previous high-grade intercept at 2,636g/t Ag over 1.5m in hole 25-ERRC-12, confirming the area is part of a larger target. "Follow-up drilling on the eastern part of the Jesus Maria vein near drillhole 25-ERRC-12 was highly successful in confirming that drillhole 25-ERRC-12 is not an anomaly and is part of a much larger high-grade target," commented Alberto Orozco, CEO, Capitan Silver.
The company also reported that hole 25-ERRC-26 discovered a second, new, broad zone of mineralization at the Peñoles Fault. Orozco noted this discovery is significant as these cross-cutting structures are seen as important conduits for carrying mineralized fluid across the property.
Drilling is ongoing at the project, with the company nearing completion of 10,000m of its upsized 15,000m program. Assay results for 25 additional drill holes are currently pending, the company says.
