Baja California Inaugurates First Strategic Customs Facility
The Government of Baja California has officially inaugurated the state’s first Strategic Customs Facility (RFE) in Tijuana, a project developed in partnership with BB Crossborder Logistics and Grupo Bustamante.
“This Strategic Customs Facility is a motor that is driving Tijuana forward. Here, national and international companies can operate with their goods in a safe, flexible, and transparent framework backed by the Government of Mexico and the Government of Baja California,” says Governor of Baja California Marina del Pilar.
The RFE aims to strengthen Baja California’s competitiveness in international trade and position Tijuana as a global logistics and manufacturing hub, says del Pilar. The RFE will allow companies to introduce, store, transform, repair, distribute, and manage goods under an advantageous customs regime. Benefits include efficient logistics, reduced costs, storage without immediate tax payment, and improved competitiveness, key advantages that will particularly support the growing wave of nearshoring investment.
“This facility strengthens our position in global trade and consolidates Tijuana as an attractive destination for investment,” says Mayor of Tijuana Ismael Burgueño.
The project is a turning point for the region, designed to integrate Tijuana more effectively into global supply chains, says Carlos Bustamante, President, BB Crossborder Logistics. “This is more than a strategic step, it is a commitment to strengthen Tijuana’s position as an export platform for the world and to contribute to regional economic development,” he adds.
“Baja California will have its first Strategic Customs Facility in Tijuana, strengthening the state’s competitiveness in international trade. This project consolidates Baja California as a key player in global commerce, attracting investment, generating jobs, and creating well-being for our families,” writes Ávila on her X account.
