The Chief Executive Officers of major shipping companies, CMA CGM Group, COSCO SHIPPING, Evergreen, and OOCL, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Shanghai, China, extending the OCEAN Alliance for an additional five years, until 2032.

"The decision to extend our cooperation for at least five more years forges our commitment to meet our customers' needs and build even more secure, reliable, and sustainable supply chains," says Rodolphe Saadé, Chairman and CEO, CMA CGM Group.

The OCEAN Alliance, launched in 2017, stands as the world's largest operational shipping network, facilitating international commerce. The new extension reinforces the commitment of the alliance's members to collaborate in maintaining transit times, sailing frequencies, and port coverage.

Since its inception, the OCEAN Alliance has played a crucial role in connecting Asia to key destinations such as northern Europe, the Mediterranean, the Middle East, and North America's east and west coasts. The stability, reliability, and trust established through this alliance have contributed to building strong supply chains across the world.

Members of the OCEAN Alliance say they are committed to sustainability. The CMA CGM Group, a founding member, is dedicated to achieving Net Zero by 2050. To fulfill this commitment, the group is actively implementing sustainable solutions to reduce the environmental impact of shipping and logistics. This includes operating over 120 containerships propelled with alternative green fuels by 2027, with some already deployed within the OCEAN Alliance footprint.
