EELCO Expands, Opens New Warehouse in Texas
Logistics service provider EELCO inaugurated a 23,225 m2 facility in North Laredo, Texas, the United States, wrote Eduardo Lozano, CEO, and President, EELCO, on LinkedIn. The new facility’s strategic location, near the IH 35 North highway, will enable efficient warehousing and cross-docking services.
In an interview with FreightWaves, Lozano detailed EELCO's network, including offices in Texas, a Foreign Trade Zone warehouse in Miami, Florida, and offices in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. EELCO specializes in US Customs clearances and provides logistic support services, including customs clearance, cross-docking, freight forwarding, warehousing, distribution, and Foreign Trade Zone services. The company handled over 114,000 customs transactions for clients in 2023.
The 23,225m2 logistics warehouse consolidates EELCO's two existing warehouses in Laredo. The facility has 47 dock doors, four ramp doors, 247 trailer spaces, and a large area for foreign trade zone warehousing.
Lozano attributes the expansion to the growing demand for cross-docking and storage services. Importers find it cost-effective to load Mexican dry vans in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, clear customs in Laredo, and use EELCO's facility for efficient cross-docking operations.
The Laredo real estate market for warehousing is growing, with industrial parks developing around the city. Lozano notes that finding real estate is not challenging, but buyers face premium prices compared to previous years. Despite this, EELCO is optimistic about the future, as Lozano predicts significant growth in the Mexico-US trade market in the coming years.
