Nuvocargo Acquires Mentum to Accelerate AI in Supply Chains
Nuvocargo, the AI-native logistics platform for North America, has announced the acquisition of Mentum, a San-Francisco based Y Combinator startup specializing in AI agents that automate procurement and supply chain workflows.
“Gustavo is a very unique breed of founder. He grew up across multiple countries in Latin America, worked as a data scientist, has been building fintech and AI products in San Francisco, and carries the same YC DNA that runs through Nuvocargo. He is multilingual, deeply understands the intersection of agents and supply chain, and has been building technology that is extremely relevant to our roadmap and our vision for how AI will reshape the future of logistics,” says Deepak Chhugani, Founder and CEO, Nuvocargo, talking about Gustavo Trigos, Founder and CEO, Mentum.
While terms of the deal remain undisclosed, the Mentum team, including Trigos, will join Nuvocargo to boost R&D and accelerate AI-driven capabilities within NuvoOS, the company’s proprietary operating system for freight management.
Leveraging large language models (LLMs), Mentum developed technology that aggregates unstructured content and automates tasks such as quoting, requests for proposals, and purchase orders, all while maintaining human oversight through verification and approval checkpoints. This approach has helped mid-market manufacturers reduce operational friction and free up teams to focus on high-value relationship management.
Trigos and his team bring deep production-level experience, having worked with 300+ supply chain leaders and visited factories across the United States to rigorously understand pain points on the operational frontlines.
“When Deepak and the Nuvocargo team approached us, it was clear we shared the same vision for how AI can transform supply chains. They have earned the trust of major enterprises and built the foundation to deploy the kind of agent technology we have been developing at Mentum. We are excited to bring our expertise together and tackle various complex technical challenges in logistics, across visibility, compliance, financing, pricing optimization, payments orchestration, and more.”
Nuvocargo sees a future where logistics software is built AI-native from the ground up, enabling systems that learn, adapt, and execute across procurement, freight, compliance, visibility, financing, and payments in a single intelligent orchestration layer.
The company believes that enterprise-grade automation requires two fundamentals:
-
A proprietary system of record that embeds complex operational business logic, which Nuvocargo has built into NuvoOS
-
Collaborative AI agents that work alongside logistics teams, with humans overseeing exceptions and maintaining accountability
