Wi-Tronix, Mayan Train Join Forces to Boost Rail Safety

Wi-Tronix, a company that provides comprehensive locomotive management solutions, has announced a multi-year partnership with the Mayan Train to deploy advanced remote monitoring, AI-based analytics, and video intelligence across the railway’s locomotive fleet, aiming to boost operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability.

The railway is expected to serve a broad range of customers, transporting essential goods such as fuel, steel, cement, grains, and automobiles across the region.

The Wi-Tronix suite of connected technologies will introduce transformative capabilities to Tren Maya’s operations:

• Fuel Savings: Real-time performance monitoring to identify inefficiencies in throttle use, idling, and train handling, achieving up to 15% fuel reduction.

• Enhanced Safety: High-definition, 360° video capture in a VR-like mode to accelerate incident resolution and strengthen crew accountability.

• Regulatory Compliance: Continuous recording and threshold-based monitoring of speed, braking, throttle, and GPS data to align with railroad rules and assist in accident investigations.

• Predictive Maintenance: Advanced diagnostics to detect issues, such as engine faults, battery degradation, or overheating, before they cause operational disruptions.

• AI-Driven Insights: Automated rule violation detection, engineer performance coaching, and trend analytics for long-term planning.

The deployment will integrate the Violet Edge onboard IoT platform, Wi-Nostix predictive analytics, and advanced video and fuel monitoring capabilities. Together, these solutions will help the Mayan Train operate more efficiently, improve safety standards, and ensure environmental responsibility.
