Xavier Ordóñez, Partner Supply Chain, Deloitte, was nominated President of the SoyLogístico association. Ordóñez said that during his administration, he will focus on developing communication channels with authorities, one of the most pressing challenges for the sector.

During SoyLogístico’s 10th anniversary ceremony and 2025 Assembly, Ordóñez was sworn in as president for the 2025-2026 term. Joining him in the association's leadership, Paola Núñez, Supply Chain Director, ASR Group, and Brenda Hernández, Senior Director of Logistics, Mattel LATAM, were appointed to the Vice Presidency.

Ordóñez takes over from Virgilio Paniagua, who served as SoyLogístico’s president for two consecutive years. “A great deal still needs to be done. We have also been actively promoting SoyLogístico’s efforts, working to raise greater awareness and encouraging more collaboration. I invite everyone to continue contributing to and strengthening Mexico's logistics sector,” Paniagua concluded.

Ordóñez acknowledged that the logistics sector faces different challenges, including political and environmental instability. However, he noted this is something common for logistics companies. "We are facing instability stemming from various issues, sometimes political, sometimes climatic, and at other times, a combination of factors. What the experience of the last five or six years has taught us is that this instability, in one form or another, is a persistent challenge. Now, it falls to us to rise to the challenge of navigating and managing this environment," he added, stressing the importance of the continuous professionalization of the logistics sector achieved over the past 10 years.

Núñez affirmed her commitment to advancing projects that enhance the strategic value of the logistics sector. She pledged to drive the success of the Metropolitan Logistics Hub, a joint initiative with Mexico City’s Ministry of Economic Development (SEDECO), which aims to establish the Mexico City metropolitan area (ZMVM) as a cutting-edge logistics hub. "We have the responsibility to keep advancing logistics, to keep developing these leaders, and to continue building this culture of collaboration within Mexico,” Hernández added.

Mexico’s Economic Outlook

During the ceremony, Carlos Mota, Host Es Negocio, ADN40, noted that Mexico has two pillars to sustain its economic development: free trade and institutional coordination. He said it is positive that Mexico reached a consensus across all the relevant political spectrum regarding free trade. “We nurtured this idea so effectively that today, Morena, a left-wing party in power, is determined to defend it vigorously. President Claudia Sheinbaum herself wants to uphold the free trade we have with the United States,” Mota noted.

Mota admitted that while the government considers the logistics sector part of the country’s economic development, it is not considered a priority, which results in limited support for the sector. He noted that to tackle this, the sector must continue working on its public relations strategy to push for a more supportive legal and political framework. "This requires financial investment, and reaching out to agencies and consulting with experts. If you truly want to see change, then get involved, and invest your resources,” he stressed.
