The Mexican Oil Institute (IMP) celebrated its 60th anniversary, affirming its role in Mexico's technological sovereignty and energy development. The commemorative ceremony gathered energy sector and legislative authorities who recognized the institution's historical and strategic importance.

Elizabeth Mar Juárez, Director General, IMP, stated that the institution has been distinguished by its love for challenges, creating technology and training talent. She noted that the vision of a Mexico with technological sovereignty in the energy sector, established 60 years ago, is still alive.

Juan José Vidal, Deputy Minister of Hydrocarbons, said that research and science are fundamental to national progress. He called the IMP indispensable for facing a changing world, from energy transition to technological innovation and environmental protection. Vidal also claimed that during previous administrations, efforts were made to weaken the IMP through budget cuts to make the state dependent on foreign technologies. However, he stated that the IMP resisted due to its scientific community and workers.

The Ministry of Energy has expressed its firm conviction to support and rely on the IMP for the development of energy research projects. Víctor Rodríguez, Director General, PEMEX, highlighted the historical alliance with the IMP. He called the IMP a "driver of energy sovereignty, innovation, and national talent," adding that the future requires addressing the energy transition, technological innovation, and the demand for a cleaner world.

Armando Campos, Executive Director, Agency for Safety, Energy and Environment (ASEA), described the IMP as a strategic institution and an international reference. He said its collaboration is essential for energy security, economic development, and the transition to new technologies. Legislators also recognized the IMP's role, with Senator Laura Itzel Castillo Juárez calling it a "jewel of the national energy sector."
