PEMEX reaffirmed its commitment to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and its dedication to the states where it operates. According to data from the Commission of Economy of the Chamber of Deputies, PEMEX awarded contracts worth MX$25.77 billion (US$1.51 billion) to MSMEs in 2022, underlining its role in supporting these businesses.

Notably, MX$8.624 billion (US$503.7 million) were awarded to companies in Tabasco, Veracruz and Campeche. This allocation represents 33% of PEMEX's total contracts with MSMEs. Tabasco, one of the states benefiting from this support, experienced a remarkable growth rate of 7% at the end of the first quarter of this year, positioning it among the top five states with the highest economic expansion in Mexico.

Of the contracts awarded to MSMEs, 54% were granted through open bidding processes, amounting to MX$14 billion (US$817.7 million). PEMEX also fortifies MSMEs through its Business Competitiveness Self-Assessment (ACE) program, which supports these small businesses by helping them identify areas for improvement and enhance their capacity to secure contracts directly with PEMEX.

Furthermore, PEMEX developed comprehensive logistics and supply strategies that enable MSMEs to become key suppliers. These actions benefit these businesses and bolster economic advantages in the states and municipalities where they operate.

Through these efforts, PEMEX aims to achieve a 30% reduction in costs for new contracts by the end of its administration. Simultaneously, it seeks to enhance the involvement of regional suppliers in its supply chain. These endeavors are expected to contribute to the growth and sustainability of MSMEs while supporting the development of local economies.
