SENER, CENAGAS Approve MX$3 Billion Gas Pipeline Project
SENER and CENAGAS have approved an investment of nearly MX$3 billion (US$168 million) for the construction of the Libramiento Reynosa gas pipeline in Tamaulipas. The pipeline will extend 58km and will be accompanied by the modernization of three stations for gas measurement, regulation, and control.
The project is designed to enhance safety, increase transportation capacity, and ensure reliable operations for the import of natural gas from the 24-inch Tennessee pipeline. Abraham David Alipi Mena, Director, CENACE, emphasized that the new pipeline will foster industrial development in Reynosa by ensuring a secure and risk-free supply of gas.
The increased gas transportation capacity will support the anticipated industrial expansion in the region. From an environmental perspective, Ángel Carrizales, Director, Agency for Safety, Energy, and the Environment (ASEA), pointed out that the new pipeline will reduce the impact on forested vegetation in less populated areas away from Reynosa’s urban zone.
This enhanced gas transport capacity will facilitate the establishment of new industrial parks and ensure a stable and reliable energy supply for both industries and households.
