Torque: Often Underestimated, but Fundamental
STORY INLINE POST
Q: With 35 years in the market, what makes HYTORC a leading provider of torque and bolting solutions?
A: Our experience sets us apart. As the oldest company dedicated exclusively to torque and tension equipment, we have a unique approach to the market. We represent the leader brand with the most advanced technology. As pioneers, we are backed by industry-leading patents and proven processes. We not only promote tools, we provide solutions to our customers.
In these industries, reliability and experience are essential. These pillars, along with our human capital and focus on customer satisfaction, are what differentiate us and make us stand out in the market. After so many years with the brand, we have proven to be a solid and reliable option for our customers.
Q: How does HYTORC streamline construction and O&M operations in the oil and gas sector?
A: Torque is an often underestimated force, despite being fundamental to many industrial processes. An application that is not adequately controlled can cause a process to stop, since practically all industrial processes involve torque. Our objective is to optimize torque and share our expertise, which we want clients to consider as an essential part of their operation.
Q: How has HYTORC revolutionized torque and bolting technology and how does the company foster a culture of innovation?
A: We stay aligned with global trends. The principle of torque has endured since ancient civilizations. It has not changed because there has been no need to modify it or there is not a better way to do it. What has evolved is the materials used to make tools, bolts and nuts, which are now more advanced and reliable. The processes and technologies used also make everything more precise. The key variable in the process is the accuracy of the complete application and the awareness of everything that must be consider.
We have taken the torque from a merely mechanical process and made it more structured, applying internationally endorsed processes and standards. We not only focus on the product itself, but also on international standards, regulations, and certifications, as well as staff training. We have turned torque into a science, with a globally recognized specialization.
Q: What areas of innovation is HYTORC exploring for future product development or enhancement?
A: The trend is toward automation, which will make processes more effective and efficient but will never replace humans. Information flow and energy demand are increasing, and human capital will hardly be able to meet all of these demands. That is why technology becomes the necessary link to take everything to the next level.
Another important trend we have seen in the torque industry is documentation. Thanks to technology, we can be sure that we are correctly applying the necessary torque. Applications are becoming more specific and, thanks to the information and communication channels available, we can handle many more requests efficiently.
We have tools designed specifically for critical applications that may arise once every 10 years. We are proud to represent a brand that strives to advance and adapt to new markets. HYTORC is committed to meeting the demands of the industry, always seeking to be one step ahead.
Q: How will HYTORC grow in Mexico's upstream oil and gas sector in the coming years?
A: We must be reliable. After COVID-19, supply and logistics have turned more complex. The situation has regularized but we must be prepared for future issues. We aim to achieve consistency in changing environments and then continue to raise awareness about the importance of torque.
We have worked with other companies, such as robotics developers, which now use our tools as part of their integral solutions. There is an opportunity in making integrations that really make a difference, combining the experience of the parties involved to achieve new levels of effectiveness.
Q: What challenges is HYTORC’s engineering team facing in the Mexican oil and gas market?
A: In the industry, it is difficult to establish norms, modify procedures, or create standards around torque. It is necessary to continue promoting the culture of proper use of torque equipment and understanding its importance in each application. We must make our contribution to the industry more effective by creating all this awareness and regulations.
Q: What value do HYTORC’s solutions add to other industries beyond oil and gas?
A: We have products for basically every industry. The main challenge is the transportation industry, especially tires. It is surprising that hand wrenches are still used to tighten tires on vehicles that can travel at up to 140km/h, or on trucks loaded with tons of material. This is a critical issue that lacks regulations. Our biggest challenge is justifying and promoting the importance of doing things correctly in the transportation industry. This is no longer just about generating resources or avoiding stoppages, but about guaranteeing human safety.
We also face challenges in heavy industries such as mining, where environments are critical and adverse. This forces us to be more versatile and robust in our solutions. Power generation has its own requirements which we always try to fulfill, private companies like sugar mills, plastic injection and other manufacturers are our customers too. Basically, our focus is to provide each industry, the best solution to complete their torque related application.
Q: What are HYTORC’s objectives for the remainder of this year and the next year?
A: We inaugurated new facilities in early June. Investing in expansion is important to benefit the entire value chain around us, including associates, clients, and the brand we represent. This year, we aim to add value to our customers with all the adjustments we are making in our internal process. We will continue to integrate new technologies and adapt to the changing environment.
In Mexico, Latin America and globally, HYTORC’s goal is to keep fulfilling our commitment, delivering to every customer and industry superior quality, technology and customer support.
HYTORC provides controlled torque and bolting solutions for steel mills, mining equipment, refineries, power plants, and wind turbines. Its products are among the most widely used in Mexico and the world.
