Transition Industries LLC has signed an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for the Pacifico Mexinol project in Ahome, Sinaloa, Mexico, jointly developed by Transition Industries and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. Upon its projected inauguration in 2029, Pacifico Mexinol is expected to be the world’s largest standalone ultra-low carbon chemical production facility. It aims to produce approximately 350,000mt of green methanol and 1.8 million mt of blue methanol annually, utilizing carbon capture and natural gas.

The contract was awarded to a consortium comprising Samsung E&A Co., Ltd., Grupo Samsung E&A Mexico, S.A. de C.V., and Techint Engineering and Construction. This agreement is contingent upon the fulfillment of customary conditions and required approvals. MAIRE group’s technology division NextChem, through its subsidiary KT TECH SpA, also signed a Basic Engineering, Critical and Proprietary Equipment Supply Agreement with Samsung E&A. This agreement is in connection with the supply of NextChem's NX AdWinMethanol Zero technology to the project.

Rommel Gallo, CEO, Transition Industries, stated that the signing ceremony represents a significant milestone. He indicated that the project is on track to break ground in 2025 and is committed to building a sustainable future in Mexico.

Federal, state, and municipal government officials, as well as ambassadors from the countries involved in the multi-national project, attended the event. Representatives from IFC and other strategic commercial partners were also present. These partners are expected to deliver key aspects of technology and engineering to the project, including green hydrogen and a large industrial wastewater recycling and use program.

Transition Industries expects to finalize additional strategic agreements and achieve other milestones this summer. The Pacifico Mexinol project is anticipated to be presented at COP 30 in Belem, Brazil, in November 2025, as an example of an ultra-low carbon chemicals project at scale.
