US Military Action in Mexico Ruled Out After Call With Trump. Following a phone call with US President Donald Trump, Sheinbaum confirmed that any possibility of US military action in Mexico has been ruled out. She clarified that while Trump could make further statements, Mexico will continue prioritizing dialogue to clarify positions and reach mutual understanding. Sheinbaum noted that Trump was receptive, recognized Mexico’s firm defense of its territorial integrity, and agreed to continue working collaboratively through established channels.
Trump Offers Security Assistance; Mexico Declines. Trump also offered military support to combat drug cartels in Mexico. Sheinbaum reiterated that such assistance is unnecessary, citing the importance of Mexico’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Both leaders agreed to continue security cooperation through a joint commission. A follow-up meeting of this commission is scheduled for Jan. 22–23 in the United States, where both countries will coordinate further on security and related issues.
Mexico Calls for Non-Intervention in Venezuela. During the conversation with US President Donald Trump, Sheinbaum addressed Mexico’s position on Venezuela, reaffirming the country’s longstanding policy of non-intervention and commitment to resolving conflicts peacefully. She emphasized that this approach is rooted in Mexico’s constitutional principles, and noted that the US president understood and accepted Mexico’s stance.
Sheinbaum Presents Mexico’s Winter Olympic Team. President Sheinbaum officially presented the athletes representing Mexico at the Winter Olympic Games in Italy, administering the oath to Donovan Carrillo, Alan Corona, Regina Martínez Lorenzo, and Sarah Schleper. She congratulated the athletes and wished them success, highlighting the honor of carrying the national flag. She emphasized that the flag symbolizes Mexico’s independence, sovereignty, institutional integrity, and the unity of its people. She entrusted the athletes to honor and defend it with freedom and justice, expressing confidence that they would represent the nation loyally and bring pride to the country.
