ChatGPT Incorporates Coursera’ Learning Content
Coursera joins the first generation of apps available on ChatGPT, marking the first time an online learning platform integrates directly into OpenAI’s conversational interface. The partnership, revealed during OpenAI’s DevDay event, aims to expand access to high-quality educational content to millions of users worldwide.
“This collaboration reflects Coursera and OpenAI’s shared commitment to expanding access to education and helping people around the world learn, grow, and thrive,” says Greg Hart, CEO, Coursera. “By placing trusted, verified learning within reach of hundreds of millions of people, we can help them gain the skills needed to seize economic opportunities and prepare for the jobs of the future.”
Over 800 million people use ChatGPT each week. Through the new Coursera app, users can now access educational videos and verified information within their ChatGPT conversations, turning everyday interactions into opportunities for dynamic learning. Users can request the Coursera app directly in ChatGPT, and the system will suggest relevant content when it identifies educational opportunities.
“ChatGPT is rapidly becoming one of the go-to tools for people eager to learn something new. The most powerful learning experiences happen when human expertise and AI work together,” says Leah Belsky, Vice President of Education, OpenAI. “By integrating Coursera’s educators and top institutions into ChatGPT, students can more easily find reliable content, develop job-ready skills, and advance their careers.”
Coursera is the first online learning platform to be included in this new generation of OpenAI apps. Both companies plan to continue exploring how generative AI can make learning more personalized, interactive, and scalable.
The Coursera app is now available for all ChatGPT users outside the European Union across Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans. The initial version launches in English, with selected video dubbing and subtitles in additional languages.
