Generation, in partnership with the MetLife Foundation, is launching a 2025 initiative to train 160 individuals in Latin America. The three-month program will focus on Full Stack development, soft skills, and AI applications, offering free training to participants from Mexico, Brazil, Chile, and Colombia to help them secure tech sector jobs.

"This partnership is key to providing young people from underserved communities with the opportunity to break into the tech industry and help make it more diverse and efficient," said Gabriela Paranhos, Director of Operations for Latin America, Generation Mexico. The initiative will train 40 individuals from each participating country, starting in Mexico. Generation's aim is to improve social mobility across Latin America by providing underserved youth with the skills they need to thrive in the workforce.

“We are excited to be part of this alliance with MetLife Foundation, which will benefit 40 young people in Mexico in 2025. This program is designed to quickly connect them with meaningful, formal employment opportunities,” highlighted Mercedes de la Masa, CEO, Generation Mexico. Generation Mexico reports to have already trained and placed over 3,510 young people in high-quality careers.

Upon completing the program, graduates will be included in a mentorship and employability program, connecting them with over 1,500 employers across the region, including both small businesses and large multinational companies.

This initiative comes in response to the ongoing challenge of informal and low-quality jobs in the region, as 55% of workers in Latin America and the Caribbean hold informal jobs, with three out of 10 failing to earn enough to escape poverty, reports IDB.

“This project is a key step in democratizing access to technology in Latin America. By offering Full Stack development training alongside AI applications, we are preparing young people to meet the challenges of the digital future and ensuring they have the skills necessary to thrive in an ever-evolving sector.” The company reports that 66% of graduates have seen a salary increase 12 months after finishing their training.

A 2024 survey of Generation alumni in Latin America reveals that 84% of graduates maintain their employment for two to five years after completing the program, 94% earn more than the minimum wage, and 60% can save for the future.
