Mexico is experiencing a significant shift in the labor market and prioritizing the improvement of employment opportunities for young people. As part of the initiatives to achieve this goal, the government presents the National Employment Fair for Youth Inclusion 2024, a nationwide initiative set to take place from July 24 to Aug. 29, 2024. This event will be held across all states and will feature 50 in-person events offering over 30,000 job openings from 1,600 companies.

The fair aims to provide formal job opportunities in dignified and safe conditions. It will be open to the public free of charge. It will also include workshops on resume writing, profile enhancement, and interview preparation, catering to the needs of job seekers.

“Mexico is experiencing a springtime in the labor market, with young people playing a central role where access to employment is viewed as a right rather than a privilege,” says Marath Bolaños, Mexico’s Minister of Labor and Social Welfare.

Today, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador highlighted the impact of the Mexican humanism model, citing reductions in poverty, increased wages, and job creation. He noted that the country has seen significant improvements, including a stronger peso, higher bank reserves, and decreased inequality. According to López Obrador, these advancements mark historic achievements in Mexico’s recent economic history.

The National Employment Fair seeks to build on these successes by facilitating access to employment for young Mexicans. The event not only offers job placements but also encourages companies to register their vacancies and participate in the initiative. This effort supports the broader objective of ensuring that access to employment is recognized as a fundamental right.

For those interested in participating, the fair promises a comprehensive platform to connect job seekers with employers and offers essential resources to enhance employment prospects.

The upcoming administration plans to continue putting  employment at the center of its agenda. Key objectives include advancing labor policies that have recently improved conditions in Mexico, such as further increasing the national minimum wage, which has risen by 116% nationally and 200% in the northern border regions. The “Jóvenes Construyendo el Futuro” program, which has helped nearly 3 million young people secure employment, is also expected to continue. Additionally, the administration aims to consolidate the 2019 Labor Reform to enhance collective bargaining and protect union freedoms, as reported by MBN.
