SEP, Anti-Corruption Body Join Forces to Train Public Servants
Mexico’s Ministry of Public Education (SEP) and the Ministry of Anti-Corruption and Good Governance have signed a strategic collaboration agreement aimed at strengthening ethics, transparency, and integrity in the national education system. The agreement also involves the Tecnológico Nacional de México (TecNM) and the Universidad Abierta y a Distancia de México (UnADM).
The initiative will focus on joint efforts in training, research, advisory services, dissemination, certification, and professional development for public servants within the National Education System (SEN). Minister of Education Mario Delgado emphasizes that ethics forms a central pillar of the New Mexican School (NEM), which promotes value-based education for children and youth, with honesty and integrity as core humanistic principles.
Delgado describes education as a means to awaken consciousness, build community, and instill social responsibility. He highlights the role of ethical education in shaping citizens who are aware of their history and present and responsible for the future.
Under the agreement, the Ministries will coordinate on governmental ethics, transparency, accountability, anti-corruption practices, integrity across social and private sectors, and public procurement participation. The collaboration will leverage UnADM’s educational platform to engage society in anti-corruption initiatives through programs such as Retos Ciudadanos.
Raquel Buenrostro, Minister of Anti-Corruption and Good Governance, highlights that the partnership includes three strategic agreements to strengthen ethical practices in public service. She pointed to the Semilleros de la Honestidad program, which aims to instill values in children and youth.
