Mexico and Panama, through Mexico’s National Council of Humanities, Sciences, and Technologies (CONAHCYT) and Panama’s National Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (SENACYT), held a work meeting with the purpose of discussing bilateral cooperation in the field of humanities, sciences, technologies and innovation (HCTI).

Ideas, challenges and opportunities were identified to strengthen bilateral collaboration in HCTI matters, this through the exchange of experiences between Mexico and Panama, which, according to CONAHCYT, will allow exploring actions and strategies for international cooperation, keeping a focus on common welfare, environmental preservation, and respect for the sovereignty of each country, focusing on the common good and the promotion of honest and relevant science in the Latin American and Caribbean region.

During the working sessions, CONAHCYT authorities presented new policies in science, technology and sovereign innovation for welfare implemented in Mexico, highlighting the revaluation of humanities as a fundamental part of scientific development. Meanwhile, the Senacyt delegation expressed its appreciation for the exchange of experiences, both in Mexican HCTI policies and in administrative and operational aspects related to these actions. The ministry pointed out that these "imply important factors to strengthen the national science, technology, and innovation system."

Both institutions discussed the priority areas of attention that make up Mexico's HCTI policy, such as universal access to knowledge, scientific dissemination and publication, basic and frontier science, and the National Strategic Programs (Pronaces) and National Research and Advocacy Projects (Pronaii) of CONAHCYT.

It was also announced that the multiple scientific results of the Pronaii and other research projects converge in the sovereign technological platforms and intelligent and computational technologies such as the Map Manager (Gema), the Design and Accessibility System for Research (Sisdai), and the National Informatics Ecosystems (ENI). In addition, CONAHCYT presented its further projects, such as the National System of Public Centers (SNCP), the scholarship program abroad, the National System of Researchers (SNII), and the networks of project evaluators in HCTI.

"Based on the General Law on Humanities, Sciences, Technologies and Innovation, CONAHCYT maintains virtuous bilateral relations to maintain cooperation and brotherhood aimed at strengthening HCTI for the benefit of the peoples of Mexico and Panama," reads the press release.
