Grupo Modelo has inaugurated a new distribution center (CEDIS) in Acapulco, Guerrero, replacing the one destroyed by Hurricane Otis in 2023. The new facility will serve over 600 local clients, including grocery stores, restaurants, and bars.

“This project replaces the agency devastated by Hurricane Otis and represents a significant step in the economic recovery of the port,” the company said in a statement.

The new distribution center is part of Grupo Modelo's Ayudemos al Pacífico (Let’s Help the Pacific) initiative, which allocated MX$24 million over the past year to rebuild infrastructure, support small business owners in Guerrero, and provide emergency relief.

“Acapulco is a community with which we have deep ties. The opening of this distribution center reflects our commitment to the well-being of Guerrero and the businesses that have enabled us to serve our consumers. This project is another example of how we work hand in hand with the community, always striving for a sustainable and shared future,” said Daniel Schiffino, General Manager, Grupo Modelo.

Teodora Ramírez Vega, Guerrero’s Secretary of Economic Development, highlighted the importance of the private sector's role in the state's recovery. “The collaboration with Grupo Modelo is a clear example of how the private sector can play a fundamental role in the recovery of our state. Investments like the new CEDIS boost not only the local economy but also the spirit of resilience that characterizes our people,” she said.

Grupo Modelo, a subsidiary of AB-InBev since 2013, operates 11 breweries in Mexico, including eight industrial plants, two craft breweries, and one experimental facility, as well as 10 vertically integrated operations such as glass factories, malt houses, and packaging plants.

In recent years, the company has expanded its operational capacity with projects like the Cervecería Yucateca in Yucatan and the Cervecería de Apan in Hidalgo.
