SEFL Partners With Fletes México to Boost US–Mexico LTL
Southeastern Freight Lines (SEFL) has launched a strategic cross-border partnership with Fletes México Carga Express to expand and strengthen less-than-truckload (LTL) service between the United States and Mexico, as shippers continue to push for faster transit times and more predictable border performance.
SEFL and Fletes México Carga Express say the collaboration is designed to improve reliability for northbound and southbound freight through end-to-end visibility, tighter coordination around paperwork, and integrated technology. Customers are expected to gain access to real-time rate quoting and door-to-door tracking across both networks, positioning the service as a more seamless alternative to fragmented handoffs at the border.
Operationally, the carriers are emphasizing on-the-ground coverage at the key border gateway. Dedicated teams in Laredo, Texas, and Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, will review documentation and work alongside customers and their forwarders to help smooth customs clearance and reduce border delays.
SEFL’s Mexico service offering is also supported by its existing cross-border workflow and tech stack, including immediate rate quotes via API connectivity and enhanced visibility through EDI. SEFL notes that freight can move under a single PRO number to simplify tracking and invoicing visibility across the move.
In announcing the partnership, SEFL framed the move as a response to customer demand for simpler cross-border logistics. Richard Slater, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, SEFL, says customers are seeking “simplicity” in an increasingly complex supply chain and that the partnership helps meet growing demand for reliable service moving in and out of Mexico.
Miguel Gómez, CEO, Fletes México Carga Express, says that the goal is faster and more dependable freight movement supported by end-to-end visibility and close coordination “from origin to destination,” adding that the companies are aiming to deliver enhanced US–Mexico freight solutions for SEFL customers.
Fletes México Carga Express positions itself as a major Mexican trucking provider with domestic and international service supported by agreements and connections with carriers in the United States and Canada. The company highlights more than 30 years of operating experience and a focus on secure, on-time delivery. On capabilities, it offers 24-hour customer service, GPS tracking and communications across its fleet, and regularly renewed equipment. The company also lists security and compliance-related certifications and programs, including C-TPAT and FAST, underscoring the operational focus on cross-border processes and cargo security.
The partnership fits a wider pattern of US carriers deepening Mexico coverage through alliances with established Mexican networks rather than building fully owned footprints from scratch. Regional LTL carriers are moving more aggressively into Mexico–US freight lanes as demand for cross-border service grows
Fletes México Carga Express has also pursued similar cross-border partnerships with other US LTL providers. In 2024, Saia announced a collaboration with Fletes México’s LTL division, Carga Express, built around reciprocal handling of freight moving across the border.
