JAECOO 7 SHS Sets Hybrid SUV Range Record at 1,675 km

JAECOO has set a new standard for hybrid vehicle range after its JAECOO 7 SHS completed 1,675.1 km without requiring an electric recharge or fuel refill, achieving the longest real-world distance by a Super Hybrid SUV in the 2025 Super Hybrid Challenge. The record, accomplished by Team AA, surpassed the previous 1,613 km mark and positions the Super Hybrid System (SHS) as a benchmark in extended-range performance.

The challenge took place Dec. 1–4, spanning diverse driving conditions across Mexico and the southern United States. Five teams participated in a continuous, real-world test designed to evaluate system efficiency over long distances. Team AA — consisting of Carlos Martínez, Zahara Mercado, and Jonathan Pérez — completed the full 1,675.1 km without external energy input, finishing in San Antonio.

Performance data from JAECOO indicated that the SHS maintained stable energy consumption throughout the route. The system combines electric propulsion, an LFP battery, and thermal support from a gasoline engine, optimizing energy balance across highways, varied terrain, altitude changes, and traffic conditions.

The first day led teams toward San Luis Potosi, where the top three teams — AA, Triple A, and Jägers — showed minimal differences in consumption. On day two, the route to Monterrey indicated that surpassing 1,500 km was achievable, with the 1,600 km milestone coming into sight.

The final segment into the United States validated the upper limits of SHS performance. Vehicles operated at peak efficiency, with consistent energy recovery during long descents and minimal consumption fluctuations despite over 1,300 km already traveled.

Team AA achieved 1,675.1 km, followed by Triple A (1,597 km) and Jägers (1,530 km). Teams Cazadores de Kilómetros and ECOnicornios exceeded 1,400 km. Organizers emphasized that results demonstrate SHS’s ability to support diverse driving styles without compromising overall range.

“One week after completing the route, the result confirms something essential for us: breaking the 1,600-km mark shows that the Super Hybrid System is not only efficient but capable of sustaining real performance in actual conditions.
