LG Chem, Vida Circular Partner in Mexico to Boost Sustainability
LG Chem and Vida Circular have formalized a strategic alliance in Mexico to advance sustainability through conservation and circular economy initiatives. The partnership was launched with environmental restoration activities at the “Ruta de la Amistad” sculpture corridor in southern Mexico City.
Teams from Korea, Colombia, and Mexico participated in removing invasive African grass and creating “life bombs” — clay, soil, compost, and native seeds — to restore the ecosystem around Herbert Bayer’s “Muro articulado” sculpture at the Cuicuilco archaeological site.
YT Park, Sales Director VP of LG Chem America Inc., noted that the alliance aims to generate measurable impact. “For us, Mexico is a very important market, which is why we want to contribute with initiatives that foster sustainability in the country and the region where we operate,” he stated.
The initiative is part of LG Chem’s global sustainability strategy, “RE:ACT TO ZERO,” which focuses on carbon neutrality, circular economy practices, and responsible supply chains. The program promotes renewable energy adoption, development of eco-friendly materials, zero-waste initiatives, and environmental awareness. The company has also committed to advancing mechanical and chemical recycling of plastic waste by 2050, aiming to establish a closed-loop resource cycle.
Sandra Gazca, spokesperson, Vida Circular, emphasized the importance of collaboration. “LG Chem joins our mission to promote the circular economy, raise awareness about materials, and strengthen a network of allies committed to transforming resources into impact,” she said.
Since 2021, Vida Circular has worked with resin producers, manufacturers, brands, and consumers to raise awareness and encourage sustainable practices across the value chain.
