SAT Cracks Down on Tax Evasion by Parcel, Courier Companies

The Mexican Tax Administration Service (SAT) has identified improper practices by parcel and courier companies that aim to avoid paying general import tax (IGI) and value-added tax (IVA) on various goods. These companies, along with foreign e-commerce entities, have been splitting orders into smaller packages valued under US$50 and misusing simplified dispatch methods to evade taxes and non-tariff regulations, says the SAT.

Kuehne+Nagel to Open New Facility in El Paso, Texas

Global logistics company Kuehne+Nagel is opening a 33,723m² facility in El Paso, Texas, consolidating four warehouses into one to enhance cross-border operations with Mexico. This new site supports the nearshoring trend and aims to improve supply chain efficiency. Features include advanced security, modern offices, 54 dock doors, cross-dock capability, and 125 truck yard spaces. 

Mexico Presents Mobility, Energy Projects at ITF Summit

At the International Transport Forum (ITF) summit held on May 29-31, Mexico presented a series of projects aimed at enhancing mobility and facilitating an energy transition. These include reviving seven passenger train routes and initiating green hydrogen production through PEMEX's Sustainability Plan. The projects also encompass new airport developments and a decarbonization strategy for these facilities.
