SICT Unveils New Regulations for International Cargo in Mexico

Deputy Minister of Communications and Transportation, Rogelio Jiménez, has announced new regulations aimed at improving international cargo transport efficiency. Published on July 31 in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), these regulations target US and Canadian carriers operating in Mexico, focusing on national connectivity and regional development.

San Luis Potosi Pushes Anzalduas Bridge Expansion to Boost Trade

Governor of San Luis Potosi Ricardo Gallardo advocated for the US$88 million expansion of the Anzalduas International Bridge in Texas, which will enhance truck traffic between Mexico and the United States. Scheduled for completion next summer, the expansion aims to improve trade efficiency and reduce costs in San Luis Potosi. This upgrade is expected to boost local employment and streamline trade by alleviating congestion at other border crossings.

FedEx Partners with SEI to Offer 40% Discount for Baja California Microbusinesses

The SEI and FedEx have signed a major collaboration agreement to benefit 124,000 microenterprises in Baja California. This agreement offers up to a 40% discount on FedEx's domestic and international shipping services. To enhance business efficiency and global reach for local entrepreneurs, FedEx will provide essential logistics support and preferential rates to help these businesses expand and thrive internationally.

SOBSE Starts Operational Testing on Interurban Train

Mexico City's SOBSE has started load testing on the Mexico-Toluca Interurban Train's Mexico City section. The tests, including static and dynamic evaluations, measure the viaduct’s performance with simulated passenger loads. The goal is to ensure safety and functionality before the train line becomes operational.

ISM Expands Offer in Mexico, Latin America

The Institute for Supply Management (ISM) will expand into Mexico and Latin America starting in September 2024, offering supply chain skill-building courses, certification programs, and executive events in both English and Spanish. This expansion, in partnership with Supplynity, aims to enhance supply chain expertise in the region, with courses launching in Mexico City in January 2025 and an executive conference scheduled for November 2024.

21% of Public Transport Concessions in State of Mexico Are Valid

In the State of Mexico, only 150,000 out of 700,000 public transport vehicles are properly documented, leaving the majority operating irregularly. The local Ministry of Mobility is conducting daily operations to address this issue, having seized over 5,000 units, of which 500 have met regularization requirements. Efforts include increasing the issuance of licenses and offering discounts for documentation to enhance safety and compliance.
