The Minister of Mobility of Mexico City, Andrés Lajous, met with representatives from the National Private Transport Association (ANTP) to discuss strategies to reduce traffic incidents involving private vehicle operators. The objective was to plan working sessions that focus on training and raising awareness regarding road safety for cargo transport operators in Mexico City.

"In the ANTP, we seek to share best practices while ensuring that cargo mobility is efficient and timely, all within the framework of safety," says Leonardo Gómez, Executive President, ANTP.

The meeting included representatives from FEMSA, Moderna, Lala, Semex, Esgari, Embotelladora Mexicana, Grupo Bimbo, Cetramex, and CEMEX, among others. During the meeting, Lajous highlighted various areas of opportunity that could be addressed through collaborative efforts between the private sector and the government. These include fostering road awareness among cargo transport drivers and influencing their way of interacting with their environments.

Lajous encourages ANTP’s members to participate in programs such as "Companies Allied for Road Safety," the Bicischools for operators, certification for motorcycle drivers, and the Motorcycle School in the capital.

Road safety is a public health issue, says Lajous. He also stresses the need to address the vulnerability of road users and address key risk areas, such as blind spots in the operation of cargo vehicles.

In the coming days, SEMOVI personnel will continue conducting these working sessions, prioritizing road awareness and private transport operators' training. The objective is to create secure spaces and ultimately save lives through enhanced road safety measures.
