Cargo Theft Surges Across Mexico in 1Q25

Cargo theft in Mexico rose sharply in 1Q25, with 81% of incidents involving violence. The State of Mexico and Puebla were the most affected, while Guanajuato emerged as a new hotspot, especially along key highway corridors. Criminals mainly target trucks carrying food, auto parts, and industrial materials, with most thefts occurring Tuesday to Friday, often in the early morning or evening hours.

Pre-Operational Trials Begin for Santa Martha-Chalco Trolleybus

Mexico has launched pre-operational trials of its new Elevated Trolleybus, connecting Santa Martha in Mexico City with Chalco in the State of Mexico. The electric, non-polluting system will cut travel time from 90 to 40 minutes and benefit around 10 million residents. Official inauguration is set for May 18.

GEODIS, Prologis Launch Solar Project in Mexico

GEODIS and Prologis have installed a 619KW rooftop solar system in Tepotzotlan, Mexico, which will generate 892MW/h annually. The project supports GEODIS’ emissions reduction goals and Prologis’ global solar energy target, advancing sustainable logistics in the region.

Mexico City’s Ministry of Mobility (SEMOVI) signed an MoU with Intertraffic Americas to promote innovative and sustainable mobility solutions. The partnership aims to enhance road safety, reduce traffic incidents, and accelerate the adoption of smart mobility technologies to improve quality of life in the capital.

IFC Invests US$100 Million to Boost EV Adoption in Mexico

The IFC is investing US$100 million in Element Fleet Management to accelerate EV adoption and charging infrastructure in Mexico. As part of a larger US$600 million sustainability-linked loan package, the initiative supports decarbonization, gender inclusion, and aims to cut over 9,000 metric tons of CO₂ annually by 2029.

inDrive, Pro Mujer Launch Rideshare Program to Empower Women

inDrive and Pro Mujer launched Viajes con Causa, an initiative that turns ride fares into funding for over 1,000 women entrepreneurs in Mexico. Through the Emprende Pro Mujer program, participants will receive training, mentorship, and tools to grow their businesses, promoting economic inclusion and community development.
