A fire aboard the offshore support vessel Blue Phoenix early Saturday, Nov. 8, led to a partial suspension of operations at the Pajaritos terminal in the Port of Coatzacoalcos, according to federal authorities.

The fire began in the vessel’s electrical control room during the early morning hours. The Blue Phoenix, operated by Durandco through its Blue Marine division, was docked at the Permaducto wharf in Villa Allende while conducting activities related to oil production and processing.

Maritime records show that the vessel, which flies under the Mexican flag, arrived at the port in August and had been moored for nearly three months awaiting new assignments. As a safety measure, the Coatzacoalcos Port Authority temporarily suspended operations at the Pajaritos terminal. Officials stated that port activities would resume only after safety inspections are completed and environmental risks are ruled out.

No casualties were reported, and the extent of the damage to the vessel has not yet been disclosed. Federal investigators are analyzing the causes of the fire and assessing potential impacts on ongoing offshore logistics and supply operations in the Gulf of Mexico.
