Transition Industries has signed a Heads of Agreement with Bonatti for critical infrastructure on the Pacifico Mexinol project in Sinaloa, Mexico. The agreement includes a lump sum binding price and makes Bonatti responsible for engineering, procurement, construction, and startup of port facility upgrades and pipelines.

The Pacifico Mexinol facility is being jointly developed by Transition Industries and the International Finance Corporation (IFC). When operations begin in 2029, the project is expected to be the world's largest standalone ultra-low-carbon chemical production facility. The plant is projected to produce 6,130mt/d of methanol. This includes approximately 350,000mt of green methanol and 1.8 million mt of blue methanol annually from natural gas with carbon capture.

Bonatti's responsibilities include the port facilities and jetty at the Terminal Transoceánica de Topolobampo (TTT) port area, where all methanol loading for export will occur. Additionally, Bonatti will handle the engineering and construction of methanol transfer and vapor recovery pipelines, as well as fiber optic cables between the main plant and the port site.

The agreement also gives Bonatti the opportunity to build the project's closed-loop water pipeline system. This will treat and recycle municipal wastewater to meet the project's needs, avoiding the use of freshwater sources and reducing environmental impact. Balmore Brito, Pacifico Mexinol Project Director, stated that Bonatti's international expertise and local experience in Sinaloa are beneficial for the project and nearby communities. Gustavo Blejer, Commercial Director for the Americas, Bonatti, said the project is an opportunity to combine the company's global expertise with its local knowledge to contribute to the development of Ahome, Sinaloa, and Mexico.
