Erick to Become a Hurricane. National Coordinator of Civil Protection Laura Velázquez reported that Tropical Storm "Erick" intensified at 3:00 AM this morning and is 335km from Puerto Chiapas. A hurricane watch zone remains in effect due to its potential to land as a Category 2 hurricane, with impacts like floods, landslides, and strong winds anticipated primarily in the border region between Oaxaca and Guerrero. Current estimates suggest 22 municipalities and nearly 80,000 people could be directly affected in Oaxaca, though this is subject to change based on the storm's trajectory and intensity.

Authorities have begun disseminating information to the public. Civil Protection, the Ministry of Defense (SEDENA), the Ministry of Navy (SEMAR), the National Guard, CFE, CONAGUA, and the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation (SICT) are preparing a coordinated response. Authorities have established shelters and are on alert to conduct evacuations from affected areas if necessary, Velázquez reported.

Trump-Sheinbaum Meeting Cancelled. Minister of the Interior Rosa Icela Rodríguez stated that the cancellation of the bilateral meeting between President Claudia Sheinbaum and US President Donald Trump within the framework of the G7 Summit was not an isolated event. She explained that Trump also canceled his scheduled meetings with the Australian, Japanese, Ukrainian, and European Commission heads of government. Rodriguez affirmed that the meeting between Sheinbaum and Trump will be postponed to a later date and highlighted that channels for daily dialogue between the governments of Mexico and the United States remain open.

Censorship Law in Puebla. Rodríguez commented on the proposed cybersecurity law in Puebla, which aims to criminalize cyber-harassment, digital espionage, and identity theft. She stated the law must be reviewed in collaboration with the local government and with public input.
