Government Warns of Super Flu. Minister of Health David Kershenobich called on the population to reinforce vaccination against influenza due to the international circulation of the H3N2 variant, known as Super Flu, which has been registered in Europe and the United States.

Kershenobich emphasized that only one case has been detected in Mexico so far and clarified that the variant does not represent a major risk compared to seasonal influenza. He assured that the available vaccine protects against this variant, preventing severe cases and hospital admissions, while noting that epidemiological surveillance continues in coordination with the World Health Organization (WHO).

Fentanyl Classified as Weapon of Mass Destruction. President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that the government will analyze the legal and political implications of US President Donald Trump's decision to classify fentanyl as a weapon of mass destruction. She emphasized that since fentanyl is also used as a medical anesthetic, the reclassification requires a thorough review.

Sheinbaum reiterated her administration's stance against US intervention and argued that the strategy should focus on addressing the root causes of drug consumption rather than solely relying on punitive measures. She warned that without addressing underlying social and health issues, other substances would simply replace fentanyl.

Plane Crash in Toluca. President Sheinbaum expressed her condolences following the plane crash near the Toluca International Airport, which left 10 people dead, including a family traveling from Acapulco and the pilot. She noted that preliminary reports suggest a technical failure, but the Attorney General's Office (FGR) will conduct the official investigation to determine the exact cause. Sheinbaum also confirmed that the government has contacted the owner of the property where the crash occurred to address repairs.

Election Uncertainty in Honduras. President Sheinbaum addressed the coup allegations made by Honduran President Xiomara Castro, confirming that the Mexican government maintains communication through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE). Sheinbaum emphasized that Mexico remains committed to democratic principles and the right of nations to elect their own leaders, while firmly rejecting any form of foreign interference or intervention in domestic affairs.
