Quintana Roo. President López Obrador announced that the state of Quintana Roo will receive MX$42 billion (US$2 billion) in 2023 for highway infrastructure, road building, airports and the Mayan Train. The president explained that these resources will translate to new jobs and better development opportunities for the entity. 

Moreover, Minister of the Navy José Rafael Ojeda said that in coordination with the state’s government and municipalities, the federal government has been able to collect 52,000 tons of seaweed bladderwrack, which has been a problem in the entity as it has reduced the number of tourists. 

Members of CJNG Arrested. Deputy Minister of Security Ricardo Mejía Berdeja reported that Jaime René “El Borrego”, one of the members of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG), was arrested. Moreover, he said that with the detention of Antonio Oseguera “Tony Montana,” the structure of the Cartel has been increasingly abated. Mejía Berdeja outlined that around 30 people related to the crime organization have been detained. 

Jesusa Rodríguez Rejects Position. President López Obrador said Senator Jesusa Rodríguez rejected the proposal to become the Mexican Ambassador in Panama. Consequently, López Obrador communicated that actor Alejandro Bichir was proposed as a replacement for Rodríguez.
