Volaris Named Latin America’s Top Green Airline for 2025
Mexican low-cost carrier Volaris has been named Latin America’s Environmental Sustainability Airline of the Year 2025 by the Centre for Aviation (CAPA), marking the third time it has received the distinction. The award was presented during the CAPA Environmental Sustainability Awards for Excellence in Singapore, organized in partnership with Envest Global.
CAPA stated that Volaris “continues to impress with its practical sustainability actions, such as deploying digital tools to improve flight efficiency and minimize environmental impacts, while maintaining its ultra-low-cost model and forward-looking focus.”
The aviation analysis group also highlighted that Volaris is “one of the few low-cost carriers globally investing in the development and use of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF),” noting that the airline operates one of the most fuel-efficient fleets in Central and South America. Volaris previously received the same sustainability recognition in 2022 and 2023, reaffirming its position as a regional leader in environmental initiatives within the aviation industry.
In addition to the CAPA recognition, Cirium, a global aviation analytics firm, ranked Volaris as the fourth most efficient airline in the world and the top carrier in Latin America in terms of carbon emissions per available seat for 2025.
“This recognition reflects that sustainability is an essential part of our operating model,” said Dionisio Pérez-Jácome, Vice President of Corporate Development and Sustainability, Volaris. “We integrate environmental innovation into every decision—from incorporating more efficient fleets to building partnerships that promote SAF adoption. Aviation plays a key role in the transition toward a cleaner future, and we take that responsibility seriously.”
Founded in 1990, CAPA – Centre for Aviation is a global aviation intelligence and strategy organization with offices in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, India, the United Kingdom and the United States.
