Q: How are Altair solutions giving shape to the industry of today and the future?

A: Altair is a technology company. We use simulation, high-performance computing (HPC) and AI to help industries take advantage of data. We operate in all industries and have a strong presence in the aerospace, automotive and heavy-equipment industries, among others.

Q: How are Altair’s solutions boosting Industry 4.0 in Mexico?

A: Industry 4.0 relies on data and on using real-time information through dashboards. It also involves the simulation of processes. We have platforms for IoT and for real-time data management.

We have a wide range of clients, with which we discuss new technologies to find solutions to their needs. We also do webinars where we promote new technologies to current and potential clients. Every year, we hold the Altair Technology Conference in Mexico, which will be held virtually on Aug. 23-24 this year. The event will focus on our three lines of technology: simulation, HPC and AI, with presentations from Mexican and foreign companies.

Q: How does Altair keep up with the latest trends in the market?

A: Simulation technologies are becoming more accessible. They used to be performed only by experts but we offer tools that facilitate simulation, making it possible for any individual to use it. Many more people can get involved in the very early stages of development, when there is still a great deal of freedom in modifying and optimizing the designs. Simulation models are also becoming increasingly complex. Using HPC makes it possible to access models, simulate them and receive the results in a fast and easy manner. For HPC, we offer appliances on-premise and in the cloud.

The industry is also increasingly interested in data analytics and AI. Many companies are collecting data or have a wide range of historical data but do not know what to do with it. Our platform can easily process this data to create connections, neurological networks and dashboards to see what is happening in real time.

Q: What impact does the democratization of simulations have on the industry?

A: Historically, the product development process was delayed whenever a design was rejected. Democratizing this process helps the designer do basic simulations, allowing them to know if the design will work. This makes the process faster and reduces the number of necessary corrections.

Q: How do digital twins help to improve manufacturing processes and reach sustainability goals?

A: Digital twins help to obtain field data, allowing users to monitor incidents from the early stages and to immediately correct manufacturing practices. Digital twins can measure temperature and vibrations and detect anomalies, among many other functionalities. They can also predict if a part will fail, helping to improve maintenance and designs.

Q: How much has your client portfolio expanded in Mexico?

A: Altair Mexico was born in 2007 and since then we have constantly increased our portfolio. Our clients are constantly growing because they increasingly use our technology in different areas, including design, development and manufacturing, and even in their sales and financing areas. We are growing by expanding our client base in Mexico and Latin America.

We have a patented license that offers clients with small budgets access to a wide array of technology.

Q: What are the main strategies to continue growing the business in Mexico?

A: Technology is our main strategy. We aim to have the best-in-class technology and also the best-in-class supporter for our clients. We want to be close to them because if our solutions help them succeed, then we have also succeeded.
