Chile: Exporting Innovation And Sustainability To Mexico
STORY INLINE POST
Chile's export offering is evolving. Today, we are not only recognized as providers of high-quality raw materials, but also as a country that exports innovation, knowledge, and sustainable solutions. This transformation is being driven by a new generation of Chilean companies that are placing value-add, innovation, and environmental responsibility at the core of their internationalization strategies.
Mexico has become a key market for these innovative and sustainable Chilean exports. The country’s size, diversity, and openness to new solutions make it an ideal destination for value-added goods. At ProChile, we have seen a growing interest from Mexican partners in products that not only meet technical and commercial needs but also contribute positively to the planet and society. This shift aligns perfectly with the strengths of many Chilean exporters.
Several success stories illustrate this transformation. Companies like Wild Foods, Vita Wallet, and Huella Estructural, to name only a few, have stood out for their innovative business models. Wild Foods brings to Mexico natural and functional food products aligned with global trends in health and nutrition. Vita Wallet, a Chilean fintech, offers cross-border financial services and digital wallet solutions, responding to the growing demand for secure and efficient digital transactions in Mexico.
Huella Estructural, meanwhile, represents a milestone in Chile’s contribution to seismic risk management. Since 2019, the company has received ongoing support from ProChile for its internationalization process, including participation in the GoGlobal soft-landing program. This year, they launched a pilot project in collaboration with Mexico City's Secretaría de Gestión Integral de Riesgos y Protección Civil. This initiative marked the beginning of a broader collaboration in structural monitoring solutions tailored to seismic activity, showcasing Chilean innovation in the public safety sector.
Many Chilean companies entering the Mexican market are already empowered by Chile’s robust innovation ecosystem — fueled by public-private initiatives and venture capital funds — that supports their growth and international expansion. One such program is GoGlobal, a public-private acceleration initiative led by ProChile and Corfo. It offers Chilean startups a soft-landing platform to validate and grow their businesses in international markets, including Mexico. Thanks to this support, dozens of companies have been able to refine their business models and connect with strategic partners across the country.
This transformation is taking place within a broader context of growth in Chile’s export of services. In 2024, these exports reached a record US$2.374 million, an increase of 14.2% compared to 2023. The momentum continues: Between January and May 2025 alone, Chile exported US$1.192 million in services, growing 21.9% compared to the same period last year. These services include software development, technical support, creative industries, and digital platforms.
Chile also leads in regional innovation. It ranks as the most advanced country in the Latin American Artificial Intelligence Index (ILIA 2024) and is the second most innovative economy in Latin America. These achievements are the result of deliberate public policy, qualified human capital, advanced digital infrastructure, and a unique geographic and environmental landscape that positions Chile as a natural innovation lab.
At ProChile, we are committed to supporting this shift toward value-added, differentiated exports. Through targeted promotion, business intelligence, and collaborative platforms, we are helping Chilean companies seize the opportunities that the Mexican market offers for sustainable growth.
The future of trade between Chile and Mexico lies in building partnerships based on shared values: innovation, sustainability, and mutual prosperity. Chile is ready to meet that challenge, not just as a supplier, but as a trusted provider of transformative solutions for a changing world.
