DEACERO Plans Steel Recycling Plant in Sonora
Mexican steel manufacturer DEACERO announced plans to build a steel recycling plant in Cajeme, Sonora, with an estimated investment of MX$119 million. The project aims to create new jobs and stimulate local economic growth, though final permits and official authorizations are still pending.
Cajeme Mayor Javier Lamarque met with Andrés Camacho, DEACERO’s Northwest Operations Manager, and Mariana Serna, from Institutional Relations, to review the proposal. According to company representatives, the facility would be located across from the Miravalle neighborhood, along Federal Highway 15.
Municipal officials highlighted Cajeme’s strategic advantages for the plant’s installation, including available land, a skilled labor force, road and air connectivity, and proximity to universities.
Although DEACERO has confirmed its investment plan, the project’s operational timeline remains undetermined as it awaits completion of administrative procedures and government approvals.
The plant is expected to strengthen the local economy by combining industrial investment, job creation, and environmental sustainability through expanded steel recycling capabilities in the region.
