Aeroméxico, Viva, and Volaris transported a combined total of 41.3 million passengers during the first half of 2025, representing a 5.08% increase compared to the same period in 2024, according to official traffic reports submitted by the carriers.
Between January and June 2025, Volaris led passenger traffic with 14.95 million passengers, followed by Viva with 14.32 million, and Aeroméxico with 12.06 million.
Viva, led by CEO Juan Carlos Zuazua, reported a year-over-year growth of 10.8% in passenger volume during the first half of the year. The airline transported 14.32 million passengers in this period, up from 12.93 million in the first six months of 2024, according to its preliminary traffic report filed with the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV).
In June alone, Viva transported approximately 2.5 million passengers, reflecting a 6.1% increase compared to the same month last year. This growth was driven by a 5.8% increase in domestic traffic and a 9.2% rise in international traffic. The airline expanded its available seat miles (ASMs) by 6.8% year-over-year, with domestic capacity growing 6.1% and international capacity increasing 9.8%.
Viva’s load factor for June stood at 86.0%, down from 88.7% in June 2024. The domestic load factor was 87.1%, while the international load factor reached 80.9%.
“Heading into the summer season, we are maintaining a conservative approach to aligning capacity with demand in an environment where the consumer remains cautious. We continue working to sustain operational efficiency and reliability amid challenges related to Pratt & Whitney engines,” said Zuazua.
