COMSA Marine has been awarded the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the marine facilities of the AMIGO LNG export terminal. The joint venture between Epcilon LNG and LNG Alliance is developing the 7.8Mt/y liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico.

The contract is a step in the establishment of the AMIGO LNG terminal. COMSA Marine will be responsible for the detailed engineering, construction, and commissioning of the marine infrastructure, including the LNG jetty, berthing and mooring facilities, and utilities for LNG loading operations. The marine facilities will feature a quad-berth design with high-capacity loading arms that can handle over 15,000m3 per hour, which is expected to enhance operational efficiency and reduce vessel turnaround times.

LNG Alliance CEO Muthu Chezhian stated that awarding the EPC contract is a key achievement in the project's schedule. The terminal’s location in Guaymas takes advantage of the deepwater port and its proximity to gas supplies. AMIGO LNG is focused on starting LNG exports by 3Q28 and aims to foster economic growth, local supply chain development, and job opportunities in Sonora. The company anticipates a 35% reduction in voyage times for its global customers due to its competitive pricing and reduced shipping distances.

Ruben Alamo, President, COMSA Marine, said the company will use a combination of local expertise and a commitment to international standards to deliver the project. He expects the project to create value for the entire region. AMIGO LNG secured a long-term supply agreement with E&H ENERGY of Malaysia in August 2024 to supply 3.6Mt/y of LNG for 20 years, starting in 3Q27.
