First State of the Nation Address Highlights Energy Strategy

Sheinbaum reiterated that the administration seeks to recover control of the energy sector through the revitalization of PEMEX and CFE, following decades of policies she described as “neoliberal dismantling.” She positioned energy policy as a pillar of national sovereignty and economic stability, highlighting that the current administration aims to reverse structural reforms introduced in 2014 that opened significant portions of the sector to private and foreign investment.

 

CFE Directs MX$64.7 Billion to Green, Social Projects in 2025

Mexico’s CFE reported that it has allocated more than MX$64.7 billion through its sustainable financing framework, underscoring the company’s expanding use of thematic bonds to fund green and social projects.

According to the OLADE’s Latin America and Caribbean Energy Inflation Index (IE-LAC), monthly energy inflation stood at 0.05%, slightly higher than May but still signaling stability. On an annual basis, the index eased to 1.26%, down from 2.26% in June 2024.

 

CFE Fibra E Returns to Markets With International Bond Plan

CFE Fibra E is returning to international markets for the first time since 2018, launching meetings with investors this week ahead of a planned bond issuance. The financing vehicle, the only one with access to Mexico’s National Transmission Grid (RNT), is moving to secure funds that will support the expansion of the country’s transmission network under CFE’s 2025–2030 Strengthening and Expansion Plan.

 

Honeywell to Provide Technology for AMIGO LNG Terminal

Honeywell announced its modular liquefied natural gas (LNG) pretreatment technology and Integrated Control and Safety Systems (ICSS) will be used at the AMIGO LNG export terminal in Guaymas, Sonora. The project is a joint venture between Texas-based Epcilon LNG LLC and Singapore-based LNG Alliance Pte Ltd.

The National Institute of Electricity and Clean Energy (INEEL) and Universidad Tecnológica Emiliano Zapata (UTEZ) have reinforced their collaboration to integrate students and faculty into high-level R&D projects. In a recent meeting between INEEL leadership and UTEZ President Gabriela Navarro, both institutions outlined plans to expand student internships, research stays, and professional practice opportunities within the institute’s technical, planning, and commercialization areas.
