In maritime trade, OOCL is set to launch its TLP8 service on Aug. 20, offering one of the fastest Asia–Mexico routes. Cargo Theft in Mexico Surges, State of Mexico and Puebla Lead
Mexico faces rising cargo theft risks, with hotspots in key highway corridors. Food, metals, and auto parts top stolen goods, while semi-trucks are prime targets. Central and West regions account for 80% of cases, mostly during weekday nights.
OOCL Launches TLP8 to Speed Up Asia–Mexico Trade
OOCL will launch its TLP8 service on Aug. 20, 2025, enhancing Asia–Mexico connectivity with direct sailings from Qingdao to Ensenada in 16 days and to Manzanillo in 20 days. The new route offers one of the fastest options on the trade lane, adding flexibility, more routing choices, and improved transshipment via Yokohama to meet growing demand for reliable, time-sensitive shipping.
Mexico–Pachuca Passenger Train Targets 2027 Completion
Mexico–Pachuca electric train, now 4% complete and scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2027, will reduce travel time between both cities to one hour and 15 minutes, benefiting around 108,000 passengers daily. The project aims to boost regional connectivity, create jobs, and support economic development, with modern, accessible stations and dedicated tracks to ensure fast, reliable, and sustainable service.
Expanded US-Mexico Rail Link Clears Environmental Check
The US Surface Transportation Board has issued the final EIS for the Green Eagle Railroad, a 2.1km link in a planned 30km Eagle Pass–Piedras Negras connection. The project, featuring a new double-track bridge over the Rio Grande, aims to boost cross-border rail capacity and security for BNSF and Union Pacific, with environmental safeguards in place.

Union Pacific is boosting intermodal growth with a new expedited Inland Empire–Chicago service starting Sept. 3 and the opening of its Kansas City Intermodal Terminal. Both aim to cut transit times by up to 25%, expand capacity, and offer truck-competitive, sustainable shipping options.
