According to a recent Microsoft report, two-thirds of business leaders now prioritize AI skills over traditional experience. Essential skills in this context include proficiency with tools like ChatGPT and a solid understanding of AI concepts. Upskilling courses are increasingly emphasizing AI literacy, reflecting its growing importance in hiring practices and career development.

While the report highlights generative AI tools such as ChatGPT and Copilot as critical, a deeper grasp of what constitutes "AI skills" is essential for job candidates and existing employees alike. Many companies are focusing on AI literacy, underscoring the importance of foundational courses in machine learning and deep learning. These courses not only address basic concepts but also provide organization-specific AI knowledge, preparing employees for advanced training.

Kian Katanforoosh, CEO, Workera, points out that popular AI assessments for non-technical individuals, such as “AI fluency,” are crucial. These assessments cover areas like “communicating about AI” and “generative AI,” evaluating a person's understanding of how generative AI functions, their ability to identify suitable applications, and their awareness of ethical issues related to the technology.

As AI continues to transform the business landscape, developing and recognizing these skills will be pivotal for hiring decisions and career advancement. Emphasizing both foundational and advanced AI knowledge will be key to navigating this evolving field effectively.
