The Automotive Hall of Fame (AHF) has announced that Dieter Zetsche, former Chairman of Daimler, will be inducted during the 2025 ceremony on Sep. 25 at The Department at Hudson’s in downtown Detroit. This event marks the beginning of a five-year partnership with MEMA – The Vehicle Suppliers Association – as the presenting partner for the annual induction.
Zetsche is celebrated for steering Mercedes-Benz into a new era of global growth and engineering innovation. “I am honored to join this year’s class and celebrate alongside others who have shaped the industry’s transformation,” said Zetsche, who will attend in person to accept the honor.
The 2025 inductees also include Formula 1 champion Ayrton Senna, pioneering test driver Betty Skelton, and renowned automotive journalist David E. Davis Jr. The ceremony will feature tributes from General Motors President Mark Reuss (for Skelton), Bianca Senna (CEO of Senna Brands, for her uncle), and Eddie Alterman (Chief Brand Officer at Hearst Autos, for Davis).
“Hosting the ceremony at The Department at Hudson’s highlights Detroit’s rich automotive heritage. Our partnership with MEMA emphasizes the vital role of vehicle suppliers in the industry,” said Sarah Cook, President, AHF.
“MEMA is honored to support the Automotive Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. This partnership underscores our dedication to recognizing individuals who drive innovation and progress,” said Bill Long, President and CEO, MEMA.
Zetsche’s career spans over four decades at Daimler AG, where he served in various capacities, including as an engineer, executive, and public spokesperson. Appointed CEO and Chairman in 2007, Zetsche championed luxury automotive design, high-performance engineering, and advanced technology at Mercedes-Benz.
