Container Traffic Surges Amid Overall Cargo Decline

The General Coordination of Ports and Merchant Marine (CGPMM) reports a slight decrease in port cargo traffic between January and April 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. However, container traffic showed significant growth during this time, particularly involving Chinese imports.

Kuehne+Nagel Opens New Facility in El Paso, Texas

Global logistics company Kuehne+Nagel is opening a new, larger facility in El Paso, Texas, spanning 363,000ft2. The site consolidates four warehouses from across the border into one that is strategically positioned to support nearshoring. Logistics operator Hub Group has initiated operational tests for a novel freight transportation route linking Chicago, Illinois, with Ferrovalle facilities in the State of Mexico. This venture aims to streamline trade between Mexico and the United States.
