Mexicolectivo Project/Sixth COVID-19 Wave

Mexicolectivo project. President López Obrador said that members of the Mexicolectivo project are against his government and categorized them as a “moderate wing” of the conservative bloc. Nonetheless, he recognized their right to free speech and protest.

Yesterday, the Mexicolectivo project was presented. It is a political project that gathers known Mexican personalities of the political realm. Among its members are former presidential candidates Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas and Francisco Labastida Ochoa, former head of UNAM José Narro and senator Patricia Mercado.

Backing up the argument of putting an end to “one single voice” in the country, referring to López Obrador and his party MORENA, politicians, academics and intellectuals gathered to be part of this new government proposal. The group set up an online platform ready to receive proposals from whoever wants to participate.

Sixth COVID-19 wave. Deputy Minister of Health, Hugo López-Gatell, assured that the “sixth wave” of COVID-19 is coming to an end. López-Gatell clarified that during this wave, occupancy of hospital beds for patients with respiratory sickness remained at a minimum.

Regarding hospital occupancy of general beds for COVID-19 is at 6% while for people in critical conditions requiring a ventilator is 2%.
